Police charged two Danbury men with third-degree burglary and sixth-degree larceny after they allegedly stole a ladder from a Lake Avenue hotel Saturday morning.

Officers from the Community Conditions Unit were on patrol around 10 a.m. when they spotted Christopher Blue, 52, and Todd Palumbo, 51, in a van on Spring Street, police said. Aware that both men had extensive criminal histories, police said, they followed them to the hotel and watched as the men removed a ladder and other items from a utility closet.

When officers stopped the van, they found Palumbo in possession of a glass pipe containing crack cocaine residue and charged him with possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.
